Our hardware approach is component-based and builds upon the
Volksbot
concept developed in AIS. The basic idea is to make the construction and debugging not only the work of mechatronics specialists but of an ordinary person.
The main components are:
- A new frame composed of camera tower and solid alluminium elements to be more stabil and meet the demands of robotic soccer
- The only onboard sensor is a camera mounted directing upwards to the convex mirror which enables wide range of view (it can see up to 11 meters)
- Three driven omnidirectional wheels, actuated by 90 watt DC motors.
- For the motor control, TMC (Triple Motor Controller) developed at AIS, is used.
- As the brain a Q20 Samsung laptop where all the software runs.
